The world was burning in shades of amber, rust, and copper. Overhead, the canopy of the autumn forest formed a cathedral of shivering leaves, filtering the slanted afternoon light into beams of pure, liquid gold. Every step along the winding woodland path kicked up a fragrant cloud of damp earth and fallen foliage, a rich perfume that spoke of the changing season.

Through this glowing expanse moved a streak of vivid red. He was a creature of sharp angles and midnight-black paws, his thick winter coat brushing against the frost-kissed ferns. With every movement, his alert expression gave him away—ears swiveling to catch the scurry of a hidden vole beneath the underbrush, amber eyes scanning the shifting shadows with an ancient, wild intelligence. He owned this quiet realm, navigating the fallen timber and golden drifts with a silent, fluid grace.

Pausing where a stray shaft of sunlight broke through the branches, the red fox lifted his sleek head, tasting the crisp air for the scent of approaching twilight. Satisfied with the peace of the woods, he let out a soft huff that puffed a tiny cloud of mist into the chill air, before melting seamlessly back into the fiery embrace of the forest.
