The rain had just stopped, leaving the deep forest dripping with a silvery mist. High above the damp ground, nestled deep within the emerald expanse of the forest canopy, Pip adjusted the collar of his woolen coat and took the first step upward.

The path to his home was a marvel of wild architecture: a grand spiral staircase carved directly from the living, twisting bark of an ancient oak. Every riser was decorated with intricate wood carvings of leaping foxes and unfurling fern fronds, slick with morning dew. Pip climbed rhythmically, his boots clicking softly against the wood, leaving the shadowy, quiet forest floor far behind.

As he reached the uppermost landing, the heavy oak door swung open as if recognizing his approach, spilling a welcoming, buttery warmth across the wrap-around porch. The treehouse hummed with a quiet, magical life of its own. Inside, glowing windows—paned in amber crystal—cast a soft, honeyed light over shelves lined with glass jars of glowing moss and stacks of leather-bound star charts.

Pip stepped inside and shut out the chill of the woods. He tossed his damp coat onto a peg, lit the brass kettle over the hearth, and listened to the gentle rustle of leaves against the roof. Safe in his cozy haven high in the branches, the worries of the world below faded away into the whispering dark.
