The air at that elevation always tasted like crushed pine needles and cold stone. As the sun dipped behind the jagged spine of the mountains, the heat of the day vanished, leaving behind a crisp, alpine chill that made the breath plume faintly in the moonlight.

Kira knelt in the middle of the high-altitude basin, her fingers brushing the cool, dew-drenched blades of grass. Around her, the meadow was a secret kingdom coming alive in the dark. During the day, the slopes were a riot of scarlet, indigo, and gold, but under the soft, silver glow of the moon, the wildflower petals seemed to exhale their own inner light. She could trace the velvety, intricate texture of a mountain gentian with just her fingertips, feeling the delicate, ruffled edges of a bloom that only dared to open its heart when the world grew quiet.

Above them, towering snow-capped peaks stood like silent, white-armored guardians against the vast, star-pricked sky. They caught the moonlight and cast a gentle, ethereal radiance down across the valley floor.

Suddenly, a tiny spark of amber drifted past Kira’s cheek. Then another, and another. Dozens of fireflies—late-season wanderers braving the mountain frost—began to rise from the deep green sea of the meadow. They hovered in lazy, glowing arcs just above the grasses, weaving constellations of living light that mirrored the steady stars overhead. In the stillness of the cool summer night, surrounded by the towering mountains and the whispering blooms, Kira felt suspended in a timeless, enchanting dream.
