Eagle's Dive

Above the glittering expanse of the alpine lake, the world was silent, save for the rush of wind against unyielding feathers. High in the crisp, empty blue, the apex predator locked amber eyes on a silver flash breaking the surface far below. Time seemed to fracture, stretching the instant into an eternity of pure, calculated instinct.

With a sudden, violent shift, the creature folded its massive wings tight against its sleek body, transforming from a drifting monarch into a living arrow. Gravity took hold, pulling it downward in a breathtaking, vertical plunge. The air screamed past thousands of intricately patterned feathers, each quill vibrating with the sheer velocity of the descent. The shoreline blurred into a streak of green and stone, but the hunter’s gaze never wavered from its target.

An instant before impact, heavy talons snapped forward from the feathered casing, spreading wide like steel hooks honed by the wilderness. The water rushed up to meet them with terrifying speed.

*Crash.*

A thunderous eruption of white spray shattered the glassy surface of the lake, sending diamond droplets flying into the sunlight. For a heartbeat, the chaos of foam and churning water swallowed the hunter whole. Then, with a mighty beat of newly unfurled wings, the eagle burst upward from the depths, a struggling silvery prize secured firmly in its grip, ascending once more toward the limitless sky.
