The sun dipped below the tree line, bleeding a dusky orange light across the forgotten spur of the railway. Old, rusted rails crunched faintly beneath the shifting gravel, having borne the silence of abandonment for decades. Yet, tonight, the silence was broken.

At the head of the overgrown line rested a magnificent vintage steam locomotive. Though its chassis bore the detailed texture of rusted metal and weathered iron, it had clearly been meticulously restored to a phantom glory. A faint, ghostly plume of steam drifted upward from its brass whistle, dissolving into the cool evening air like a sigh of relief. Inside the massive boiler, a newly stoked fire crackled, casting a warm, flickering glow against the gathering shadows.

The engineer wiped a soot-stained hand across his brow, stepping down from the cab to admire the beast of burden. With a sudden, deep wheeze, the locomotive gave a heavy shudder, metal groaning against metal as pressure built in its iron lungs. It was ready to leave the ghosts of the past behind, waiting only for the signal to roll once more into the fading dusk.
